Mourners were scheduled to gather early this morning to mark the 11th anniversary of the Texas A&M University deadly bonfire collapse.
A ceremony was planned for 2:42 a.m. at the site where on November 18, 1999, the giant log tower fell, killing 12 Aggies and injuring 27.
In a news item published today, the Austin American Statesman reported that “the annual bonfire, which began in 1909, was the ultimate tradition for many Aggies. A commission that investigated the collapse found that students had been cutting corners in construction for years and that school officials had failed to adequately supervise them.”
Strangely, Governor Rick Perry, a former student “yell-leader” at Texas A&M University, has said nothing about the ceremony or about the subsequent investigation and his potential role in the high-level cover-up of the Bonfire incident that author June Melton, III, PE has mentioned in The Mysterious Adventures of Marshal Yeager, Professional Engineer, Book 1 In the Matter of: Sandra Bullock’s House, Governor Rick Perry and Corruption at the Texas Board of Professional Engineers.
